Global Oil Atlas 2025

XLSlides field guide · Sources, licences & modelling notes

Where crude oil is pumped, how it travels, and where it is refined. A selected, linked inventory of oil assets, with capacity, owners and modelled revenue. This is a static 2025 reference model, imported 29 October 2026, not a live tracker. Click anything on the map, or search below.

    Sources & licences

    • Oil fields: Global Energy Monitor, Global Oil and Gas Extraction Tracker (March 2026), CC BY 4.0, updated and extended with regulator, company and press data for 2025.
    • Pipelines: Global Energy Monitor, Global Oil Infrastructure Tracker (2026), CC BY 4.0. Route geometry is GEM's; throughput and owners updated where reported.
    • Refineries: Climate TRACE refinery inventory, as attributed by the original project; release label not independently confirmed. CC BY 4.0, subject to source-specific exceptions. Capacity, owner and status edits come from the project.
    • Country totals and trade use the documentary project’s synthesis of Energy Institute, Our World in Data, customs and regulator material. Individual sources and modelling notes vary by record.
    • Terminals, tanker lanes and site-to-site flows include substantial modelling. Fields display basis and confidence where recorded; not every layer has both tags. Routes are illustrative corridors, not vessel positions. Revenue is modelled, not audited company income.
